If you’ve ever felt that you have lost touch with your body and your femininity, Netflix’s ‘Strip Down, Rise Up’ is a must see

For all the brave women featured in Strip Down, Rise Up, pole dance is much more than a fitness class. Stepping very awkwardly for their first visit to a pole studio, they soon learn to trust the process that eventually allows them to fully embrace their femininity and appreciation of how beautiful all their bodies are. They open up to bare their histories — betrayals, sexual abuse, mastectomies, weight gain, insecurities, repressive religious households — and regain ownership over their bodies.

Despite what the title may suggest, there is no stripping of clothes – this is very much an emotional journey, with far more shedding of tears. High heels become a tool to literally step them into a new realm of sensuality in an all female space where they feel completely safe. The pole classes actually become group therapy sessions, with emotional freedom the main goal. This new found self-confidence propels them to take control of their lives outside the pole studio and to live their lives fully and fearlessly. It is a powerful narrative that all women can connect with, and particularly those in the pole community will resonate with.

Let me know what you think about it? I’d love to hear if you feel that you have had a similar experience in your pole journey.
